• What: The People's Choice Apple Pie Baking Contest

• When: Port Chester Day, Saturday, August 29, 2026

• Where: Lyon Homestead

For Bakers (Entrants)

• $10 donation to enter as a baker

• Registration deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026 at 5:00 PM

• Send entry email to PortChesterHistoricalSociety@gmail.com

• Only 5 bakers will be randomly selected from entrants on 8/21/26, notified that evening

• Pie drop-off: 1:30–2:30 PM on 8/29/26 at the Lyon Homestead

• Judging begins at 3:00 PM

• Bakers are not present during judging, but will be part of the announcement of the top 3 scores

Pie Requirements

• Must be fully cooked

• Max 12 inches in diameter

• Apples must be the featured/main ingredient (other ingredients allowed)

• Submit in a disposable pie plate (won't be returned)

• May be submitted at any temperature

• No labels or identifying info on the pie (judging is blind)

For Tasters/Judges ("You Be the Judge")

• $10 donation buys a tasting pass + one vote for your favorite pie

• Limited to 20 tasting passes, first come first served

Prizes

• 1st: $75 gift card + private tour of the Lyon Homestead

• 2nd: $50 gift card + Port Chester Historical Map replica

• 3rd: $25 gift card + Port Chester Historical Society magnet
